Three quick checks
Have Wi-Fi and the eSIM QR code ready.
Confirm that the phone is carrier-unlocked and Set up an eSIM appears under Add SIM.
Menu wording may vary by Android version, country, and carrier.
Step-by-step activation
-
Open SIM settings
Go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs.
-
Choose eSIM setup
Tap Add SIM or the plus icon, then Set up an eSIM or Download a SIM instead.
-
Scan the code
Scan the provider QR code. If manual activation details were supplied, use the help or manual-entry option.
-
Download the profile
Confirm download and activation, then give the eSIM a name that identifies your trip.
-
Configure mobile data
On the SIMs screen, select the new eSIM for Mobile data. Enable Roaming if the package instructions require it.
Check your connection
Confirm that Use SIM is on for the new eSIM and that it is selected for mobile data.
Review automatic data-SIM switching to avoid unintended charges on your primary line.
If the connection is delayed, toggle Airplane Mode and restart the device.
If a step does not work
Set up an eSIM is missing
Check Android updates, carrier lock, and the exact model and sales region.
QR code is rejected
Confirm that the code is unused and intended for this device, then try another Wi-Fi network.
No connection
Check the mobile-data SIM, roaming setting, and any APN instructions supplied by the provider.
