Three quick checks
Have stable Wi-Fi and the provider QR code ready.
Before buying, confirm that the device is carrier-unlocked and shows an eSIM management menu.
Menu labels can vary by HyperOS/MIUI version, sales region, and model; this path appears only on eSIM-capable phones.
Step-by-step activation
-
Open mobile-network settings
Go to Settings → Mobile networks and turn on Use eSIM.
-
Manage eSIM
Open Manage eSIM and tap Add eSIM or Discover eSIMs.
-
Scan the QR code
Scan the QR code shown on the delivery screen and confirm downloading the plan.
-
Enable the eSIM
Turn on the downloaded eSIM, label it, and select it for mobile data.
-
Check roaming
Enable data roaming for the new eSIM only if the package instructions require it; leave roaming off on the primary line.
Check your connection
Check that the correct eSIM is selected for mobile data and that its profile is active.
If there is no connection, toggle Airplane Mode and restart the device.
Change the APN only if the provider supplied a specific value.
If a step does not work
No eSIM menu
Check the exact model number, sales region, and software updates. If the menu is absent, consult Xiaomi support before buying.
Cannot add the plan
Try another Wi-Fi network, confirm that the QR code has not been used, and review the available eSIM profile limit.
Mobile data does not work
Check the default data line, roaming, and any APN setting supplied by the provider.
